When shifting the RAM to a different slot or removing one RAM stick, and not resetting the BIOS, when I booted Linux, I saw errors like "usb 1-9: device descriptor read/64, error -110" and another error as shown in the image below (I blacked out the MAC address). Whether that was the actual reason for the sudden crashes, time will tell.ģ. Disabling XMP solved the RAM errors in memtest. Only much later did I realize that the errors happened because XMP was enabled.
